The Evens
WHO: D.C. duo of Fugazi's Ian MacKaye and Amy Farina, formerly of late - '90s art-punk band the Warmers. The Evens have played live sporadically, including an unannounced set at Coachella last year. WHAT Playful, political, minimalist punk with vocals by guitarist MacKaye and Farina, whose space snare-cymbal drumming kicks up a subtle bounce. Expect their debut album this year on Dischord. KIDS ROCK Appearing on children's TV show Pancake Mountain, the band dressed in dark green flight suits and bashed out a hilarious educational ditty titled "Vowel Movement."
